Working to commission

In the Studio

Most of the work I do is commission based and I’d be very happy to talk to you via email or telephone to discuss even the most preliminary of ideas about your project. If practical, we can then arrange to meet in person to further develop the project or we can discuss it over email.

All my work features bespoke, unique, hand-carved lettering – no two pieces are ever the same. We’ll work together to create a unique, personally designed item that truly reflects your message and sentiments, that will last a lifetime.

How I work

At our initial meeting we can discuss your ideas and I can show you examples of different types of stone, lettering styles, and previous projects as a reference. We will then talk about the project’s layout and design, and possibly produce a draft sketch to flesh out your initial ideas. At this point I will provide a pricing estimate.

Example of a design.

After the initial meeting stage I will produce a more detailed design which I will then send you for final approval. On approval, the final price will be provided for that design, and materials will be ordered. I ask for one-third of the project price upfront to cover the initial cost of the materials.

Drawn out and ready to cut.

Once I have received the material I will draw the design onto the chosen material, at which stage I will ask you to view (via email or in person if practical) the work in progress and provide final confirmation before carving commences.

On completion of the project I will contact you to provide images of the finished work and arrange a suitable delivery & installation time.
